IWCF Well Control Awareness - Level 1

An Introduction to Drilling and Well Intervention

Introduction

The new Level 1 well control awareness course launched in 2016 and focuses on the life-cycle of a well, providing an overview for everyone working in the oil and gas industry, including people in entry level and onshore office roles. This course is the first free e-learning programme to be offered by IWCF and includes real life examples of the Macondo incident to provide candidates with key industry knowledge.

Designed For

The Level 1 well control awareness course is aimed at students and graduates, personnel with secondary involvement in well operations, office based staff or third parties involve in non-critical rig operations. 


Course Delivery

Courses are primarily offered online. A customized 4 hour awareness course can be offered at our Western and Eastern Canada facilities for groups of 6 or more. 

The training is delivered through the traditional classroom format, with lectures, videos, and classroom exercises. The course can include a knowledge test and even an introduction to the simulator to consolidate learning but does not include a formal assessment.


Certification

Successful completion of the in-class course will result in an Well Control Group Level 1 Well Control Awareness certificate which is valid for life and does not need to be repeated or renewed.
